Google vs Yahoo vs MSN

I thought I would compare the three major search engines for mapping a route I need to take tomorrow. I found the results quite interesting. The first thing I noticed was the different ways of inputting the information.

Google was easy. Below the top search box, I clicked Get Directions and put the start and finish address. Pretty easy.

Yahoo was even easier, and faster due to giving you two search boxes straight away. If you don’t need directions you simply leave one of the boxes blank, and you will simply get a map of the location instead.

MSN was the slowest. To start I needed to click Get Directions, which reloaded the whole page. Then entering the two addresses much like the other search engines. MSN came up with problems regarding the postcode, which neither Google or Yahoo had.

The interesting thing is the route chosen, Both Yahoo and MSN chose virtually the same route and gave an ETA of 2h 52m and 3h respectively. However, Google chose a completely different route which takes me off target with an ETA of 3h 35m.

So far my conclusion is that Yahoo is by far the quickest at finding a route, and at the moment… the best of the three search engines for mapping needs.
